Welcome to ACW!

Knox 1. September 7, 2010: The ACW Russia program is going amazingly well. Currently families are receiving referrals very quickly, so it's a good time to consider adoption from Russia. Allow ACW to be your primary placing agency - we'll do our best on your behalf and for the child in Russia waiting for you! We also passed our Russian accreditation "with flying colors" thanks to our wonderful Moscow staff. We have also passed all the post placement requirements, so we are geared up and ready for new families. We can accept married couples and single women and men. Call Linda Brownlee, Executive Director, at (703)-549-7774.

Sophie 2. Update on Vietnamese Adoptions - For those families interested in adopting from Vietnam, the U.S. State Department has indicated that Vietnam has signaled its intention to become a part of the Hague Adoption Convention and recently approved new adoption legislation to strengthen its domestic and international adoption process. Regulations and procedures are still being finalized. For more information, click on the Vietnam country tab above.

USCIS has issued a new I600a/I600. Please see 'Getting Started' for more information regarding the filing of your Immigration forms.

NEWS!

We are pleased to announce the formal affiliation between Associated Services for International Adoption (ASIA) and Adoption Center of Washington (ACW).

Since 1995 ASIA has specialized in China adoption. Currently the agency offers successful and smooth special needs adoption programs in China and Taiwan. Both ASIA and ACW have healthy infant China programs and are each Hague accredited.

Each agency will continue to provide primary placement services in their areas of specialty. For example, if you live in Virginia or Washington, D.C. and want to adopt a child from China, ACW will serve as your home study and post placement agency and ASIA would be the primary placing agency. The same is true if an Oregon or Washington couple or individual wants to adopt from Russia. ACW would be the primary placing agency and ASIA the home study agency.

The ACW and ASIA Boards of Directors and staff are excited about the synergies and efficiencies to be gained by partnering together. As the affiliation evolves, we will keep you informed of changes. Over time, you will see also changes to websites and marketing materials. If you want to learn more, please contact Sandra Miller at 503-224-1860 or sandram@asiadopt.org ; Linda Brownlee at 703-549-7774 or lindaacw@aol.com. We are interested in your ideas and feedback.

Russian Accrediation: On August 5, 2010 ACW has received their Accreditation in Russia for another two years. ACW has also passed all the post placement reporting requirements. We thank all the families that sent in their post placements on time and the staff of the Moscow office for their hard work.

The US State Department announced the names of the Accredited Adoption Service Providers and ACW is pleased to let you know that we are officially Hague Accredited as of February 29, 2008!

The Adoption Center of Washington is proud to be a member of Joint Council and Council for Accreditation.
